Unusual activity in the Willow Walk Nature Reserve in Wantage.

Over the past month, we’ve received several reports of unusual activity in the Willow Walk Nature Reserve in Wantage.
Members of the public have alerted us to nylon string being tied across large sections of the tree canopy. This isn’t accidental — the placement is deliberate, and it spans a wide area.

The string has been found both high up in the canopy and low down between the trees, creating hazards at multiple levels.
Sadly, this has already resulted in the death of a bird of prey that became trapped in the string.

We’ve included some photos, and while the string is difficult to spot at first glance, we can assure you it is there. Think of it as an unfortunate game of “spot the string”.

At this stage, we don’t know why anyone would do this. The layout resembles a spider’s web stretched through the canopy, creating a serious risk to wildlife.
